Fischer: Fischer, Ernst J. C.
Born in April 1887, Ernst J.C. Fischer attended Cornell University in 1906. Though he graduated before the establishment of the Omicron Chapter, he was accepted as an alumnus, having been a leader of the pre-prohibition group Mug and Jug, from which the Omicron Chapter was formed. Fischer later would be elected the Grand High Pi.

An engineer, Fischer worked for Star Electric Fuze Works in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Often required to travel, he combined these business trips with visits to local chapters, where he assessed their business practices and provided counsel. Fischer was instrumental in the establishment of an endowment fund for the fraternity, which helped keep the fraternity alive during the Great Depression. Perhaps his most lasting impact was in helping create the Paedagogus, the membership training manual.

At the 1978 General Assembly, Fischer, then 91 years of age, made several short speeches, including a farewell speech in which he encouraged his brothers to sustain and improve the brotherhood. He died a few days later on August 12, 1978.
